Supersteer Bellcrank

Well I ordered a Supersteer bellcrank for my 2013 Berkshire 390RB. Just helped a friend install one on his 2009 Tiffin Allegro Red. He says it has helped and he isn't constantly having to steer to keep the motorhome going straight down the road. His chassis is pretty much the same as my Berk. My question is: Has only one else on the forum installed one on their Berk and if so was it a noticeable difference over the OEM bellcrank.

Edgewant; I can't help you with the Supersteer, but would also like to find out more about it. I see where I am not the only one with being dissatisfied with the Berk's tracking. After driving 300 miles in a day, I am bushed from the constant steering corrections that I have to make.

We put a safe-t-plus on our Berkshire and it really firmed up the steering, now can steer with one hand without fighting the wheel. Well unless it's windy of course.

Well I got the oem bell crank off. Wasnt too bad but the fender liner and forward compartment really interfere with access. Had to buy a set of gear pullers from Harbor Freight. Had one but it wouldnt fit in the space between the compartment and the pitman arm. The mid size two jaw puller from Harbor freight worked like a champ. Waiting on Supersteer bell crank to arrive Monday by UPS.

Edgewant; did you have to use air-impact wrenches? What was the size of the nut holding the arm on? Any selfies?

Don't think an Allignment is necessary. The bell crank won't change toe in or camber or castor. The only thing it might change is steering wheel center. That can be adjusted using the drag link and doesn't require realignment.

Couldn't get an impact into the space between the fender liner compartment and the bellcrank shaft. The castle nut is 1 1/2". Just used a big long pipe wrench on the castle nut and 1/2 " socket and racket on the mounting bolts. I'll used a torque wrench when installing the new one. I'll post some pics when I reinstall.

Attached photo is intended to show the Supersteer bell crank installed with little clearance between the shaft and the fender liner and the forward compartment. No effect on steering wheel center that I can tell. Only drove for about 10 miles after the install but there is (in my opinion) a noticeable improvement in steering. Reduces the amount of steering corrections required and when a correction is made it's not immediately followed by another. I think it's worth the $390 I paid for it.

The things that Supersteer says about the OEM bell crank also appear to be true. After removing the OEM I tried to turn the shaft by hand and couldn't do it. The Supersteer turned fairly easily by hand.

edgewant; you the man, great job.
Let us know how it does after you get more miles under your belt. How much play is in the steering wheel when say you carefully turn the steering wheel minutely CW to where steering right occurs then CCW to where steering left occurs. Hopefully the play is zero, which give no wander room for the steering to do its own thing.

That's a tough one. I'd say nil. Stuck my head out the sliding drivers window before and after the change. Original had some slop and required about a 1 in movement left or right before the tire would move noticeably. The tire essentially moves instantaneously with the Supersteer.
