Thetford toilet

I just replaced the bottom seal on the Aqua-Magic Style II toilet, the seal where the toilet sits on the floor.

Now, when I turn the water pump on the water will not stop flowing into the toilet!!!!!

When I had the toilet out, I laid it on its side, did I screw up the vacuum break? By it's name I don't think that is the cause.

When I push the foot lever down it seems to come back up all the way???? But I'm guess something happened to this valve / control.

Thanks, Ernie

There's a small nub (arm) on the water valve that engages in a slot in the foot pedal. If that slipped out when you removed the toilet the water valve would stay open all the time.

Pull the foot pedal off and make sure that arm is aligned with the slot in the pedal when you put it back on.

Bama Rambler, how do you "pull the foot lever off"? I quickly looked at it and didn't see any screws holding it on.

That's the funny thing. It's not held on by anything but friction. You just give it a quick hard jerk, as the manufacturer recommends. Here's a
YouTube Video from Thetford about how to change the ball and water valve that shows clearly how to remove the pedal and make sure the nubs are lined up.

WOW !!!! Job done. Bama Rambler was correct in his diagnosis of my problem. The WOW came from thank goodness I had watched the video. Even then getting the lever removed was a s.o.b. It came off tremendously harder than the one in the movie. I even had a wooded 'pry bar' behind the lever to help me 'pop' it off.

Re-installing it, I ended up needing to do like the video demonstrated, look behind the lever to make sure every thing lined up before the final blow to 'pop' it back in place. Oh yes, I did have to put a little spring pressure on with a slight turn of the lever to get the 2 valves to align with their respective hole in the lever.

All in all , the idea of what was wrong and the video were of great help.

Glad you got it fixed without having to spend any money on it.

In your first post I could see in my minds eye you lifting the toilet by the foot lever and moving it just enough to pop the nub out of the slot without even realizing it.
