Thetford toilet flushing issue

During our last trip the toilet pedal was only opening the flush area half way and the pedal bottomed out on the floor. When I got home I dug into the issue and found that on the pedal, where it connected to the components that open the valve, the plastic was broken through. The plastic piece was what the pedal mechanism hit first to open the valve (in the picture there is a solid red line where the plastic should be). About an inch above that piece was the outer side of the pedal and that was allowing the mechanism to open half way.

My question, is there any way to replace the pedal WITHOUT removing the entire toilet? I looked in my folder but I can't discern if that is possible or not. It's so tight in there I can't get my head/eyes to see.

I don't know what I would have to replace if it came down to pulling the toilet out completely.

Any thoughts and opinions are appreciated.

We had the same issue this fall. Found it simpler and cheaper to replace the entire tolet base. Found on Amazon for abot $80.00. Was simple to replace and now have all new flushing parts. There are other posts here in the forums on this subject.

removing and replacing a toilet is well within most DIY RV owners skill levels. Something to consider if you do remove the toilet and if there is room install a water shutoff valve. JMHO
