Those with Truma Aqua Go water heaters

I just got a new 2018 Berk XLT with a Truma water heater. The heater worked once for about 5 minutes and the died. Worked with Truma to diagnose and they sent me replacement parts (very quickly). Upon replacing the parts I found mud dobbers made a nest in the fan housing and jammed up the fan causing the failure.

Those who have this heater need to make some sort of screen over the exhaust tube to keep these critters out.

Question is since I have had the Moho less than 2 weeks how did they get in so quickly and jam up the works.

A) Your unit has existed longer than you've had it.

B) It takes them about an hour to make a nest tube. I fight them all summer in my carport.

And...

C) Mud Daubbers LOVE the smell of Propane!

(We screened our Truma vent from the inside - just get a small piece of fine mesh screen.

When I talked to Truma and suggested a screen, they said not to put a screen because of any restriction of flow will damage the unit

Will see what Truma recommends

I have put screens on all propane equipment for years. You have to. Flow restriction is minimal.

X2 what Oscar said - I have even put screening on the inside of my A/C units (bugs and critters like those places too for nests!)

X2 You need to check your fans on your AC as well
