I am towing a 2014 Ford Flex without any issues at all. Mine is AWD, 3.5 engine w/auto trans. Simply keep it under 65 mph and stop every four hours or so to start engine and run through the gears to keep trans lubed. The Edge should not be much different.

I flat tow a 2013 Ford Explorer. Check your owners manual and it should tell you how it can be towed and the condition of towing that are required.
See you in Goshen.

We tow a 2013 Edge. The key was, it had to be AWD to be flat towed. We've only had one issue and that was our second trip. My other half didn't turn the key enough and left everything on and we drained enough that it wouldn't crank. Every stop, we start it and let it run. Just put it in neutral and turn the key off to the point where the car's center display is off. It is great to tow. Hardly know it's back there.

I tow a MKX that is basically the same. It is a FWD and it ties great. Very happy with it.

Since it is FWD, you could put it on a tow dolly with no issue.

The 2010 Edge can be towed with all 4 on the ground. FWD or AWD can be flat towed. Do not exceed 65 MPH.

My in-laws tow a 2016 and like it. They have to stop every 5 hours and run it for 5 minutes shifting through the gears to put fluid through the trans. The 2010 does not call for that, but not a bad idea. They also put a disconnect on the battery, just to be sure they did not run it down.

We have had no problem towing it. We did however wire the coach alternator to the towed Edge and have no problems with the battery going dead now.

2013 Edge

I tow a 2013 Edge AWD 4 down w/Roadmaster Sterling bar. I did have a toad charger installed because, even following proper procedures, the battery was somewhat drained by phantoms. No problemo, now. Handy folks rig something up to prevent battery drain, but I had the toad charger paid for by my Ford dealer (long story), so I had a pro install. I see quite a few Edges being towed.

Etrailer.com has a short write-up on flat towing a 2016 Ford Edge. You might want to read that article or even call them for their recommended hardware.

One thing mentioned is, “most states now require supplemental braking in the vehicle being flat towed.” This makes sense to me as the Ford Edge weighs more than 3000 pounds. A second topic was “active cruise control.” Their recommended equipment was for the Edge without active cruise control. They might just have been quoting the questioner but I’d check to ensure your vehicle has other restrictions.

I’d double check with the dealer, too.

We have a 2016 Edge FWD, 3.5L, Six speed automatic as our TOAD. It was very easy to setup for towing using the Blue Ox family of tow gear. We used the TowMate RVHW32 Wireless RV Tow Light Package which is much easier than messing with wiring...especially on a brand new vehicle with LED lighting. I have the Patriot braking system from Blue Ox as well.

New for 2016 Ford now recommends installing a battery disconnect to prevent draining the battery. That was the hardest part of getting it ready to tow. I had my local Ford dealer install a Blue Sea 500Amp battery disconnect unit. I power the lights and brakes with a 2 wire feed from our motorhome's 7 pin connector.

The Edge tows very well...I know it is back there but it isn't a problem...

We bought a 2014 Edge so that we could tow it behind our Class C. Have not gone a trip yet but have purchased and installed all of the parts. I looked a few different vehicles untill we decided on the Edge. No fuzes to pull out. We are very happy with the car.

We installed a RVibrake battery charger on the toad. Extremely simple install.
It is wired to the TV power lead that only functions when the TV ignition is in the on position. A red and black wire connect to the toad battery. Four days and 1,700 miles later the toad started with a fully charged battery.

As with most small SUV's and crossovers they have a FWD AWD option.

I believe an Edge weighs around 4,000 lbs so it's not a light tow....
