Trailer Brake Controller

We have a Berkshire 390RB-60 and will be towing a trailer that that has electric brakes. Has anyone added a trailer brake controller to the air brake system and how did it work out for you? Any recommendations?

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

George & Diana

I don't think that electric brake controllers use anything from the air system, just a brake light signal.

I added one. I've been using this brand in all my vehicles. Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Electronic Brake Control. Roughly $135-150

I am assuming your coach is on a Freightliner chassis. In which case there is a 6 wire plug at the base of your steering wheel that you might be able to plug your brake controller wire into. I have a US Gear tow brake that essentially uses an electric brake controller. Using their pig-tail EC-4128 (got it from Amazon) the installation was under 10 minutes. You might be able to buy the same item, cut off the connector (controller end) and solder it onto your brake controller. This should make the installation super simple.

Thanks to all that have provided input, it was greatly appreciated, I may have the solution for going forward. When I have my trailer & motor home together next weekend hopefully I can implement the best solution for my equipment. I will let you know which way I go.

Thanks again to everyone
