Maria,
In your case, I would not drive it either! Fried wires are nothing to even think of taking a chance with. Good thing it was discovered! Hope everything works out!

Nearly 1,000 Forest River Motorhomes called back.
Forest River, Inc. is recalling 850 model year 2005-2011 Berkshire and Charleston motorhomes, equipped with an IOTA ITS-50R transfer switch. These switches may experience heat-related failures when exposed to elevated electrical loads associated with RV use in higher ambient temperatures. The failure may lead to an increased risk of electrical damage to other appliances.
Continued use of the vehicle without replacing the transfer switch increases the risk of fire, personal injury, and property damage. Forest River will notify owners, and dealers will replace the Iota ITS-50R transfer switch, free of charge. Owners may contact Forest River at (574) 295-8749. The company's recall campaign number is 40-712.

Anyone else having a problem getting the recall done, it's been 3 weeks since we notified our dealer and have called them several times.

It should only take 7-10 days for the part to come in. Contact the number on your letter and let them know what is happening.

I may be making a presumption here but but my dealer has had no issue getting the switches. I called and he had it in stock in 3 days. That seems reasonable to me. In fact when I called he said he had one in stock and bring it over. I did not have the recalled switch on my MH so it turned into a non issue after all. I would be giving my dealer a little more pressure.

As you can see from my signature, I have a 2008 390bh. The current Iota switch has the 3 cables all coming in from the top. The new transfer switch has 2 openings on one end of the box and one on the other end. I was wondering if anyone has the same setup as mine (all 3 cables entering the old switch from the top) and had the new one installed. If so, how did they handle the installation. Here is a picture of my current switch. If you could post a picture of the new switch installed I would appreciate it.

Could you send a close up of the cover. I have a 2012bh. I got the letter about the recall. However the switch I have looks just like yours. I would like to compare numbers on yours to mine. I may not need the new switch after all. Thanks.

The box in the picture is the OLD box that is part of the recall and that needs to be replaced. The new box is a metal box. I still need to get the new box installed.

He is correct. That is the switch that is being installed as a replacement to the Iota switch. Could you take a picture further back to show how the wires go into the switch?
Thanks.

Thanks for posting that picture. It's raining and blowing and just didn't want to get wet playing with my transfer switch.. Hope that helps Tom. Are you just going to buy one?

Tom,
I don't know if you got what you were looking for yet. I had my switch replaced at the factory during the FROG rally a couple of weeks ago. I have attached a picture of the new switch and the wires that now go in/out. Hopes that helps. If you need me to take the cover off, let me know.
