Urgent problem with slide

Wouldn't. You know it I am leaving on a big trip tomorrow an am having hydrolic problems.with a slide


Before I put.the unit away for.the winter.I noticed that I was having periodic issues with slide.creep on my sofa slide of a.390bh berk.

Brought the unit home. And attempted to open slide for loading.

At first ... nothing happened other than the usual noise. Kitchen slide working properly. After cycling the Jacks a couple of times the slide popped open about 6 inches. Although would not open of close any more. Cycle.jacks a couple of more times and I am able to open fully but will not close. Kitchen still working fine.

No apparent leaks.

Fluid resiviour is at.a level between 2 lines with sofa slide open.

Can anyone help me

I need to leave.town tomorrow.afternoon to drive my son to football camp 14 hours away

All I can think is double check the hydro fluid with all jacks up and all slides in. Which it sounds like you did.

My slides are out and jacks down but mine is usually filled to here.

Is there a way to get it back in manually. I would like to check levels again with both slides in and Jacks up

Level is currently very low however Jacks are down on steep grade and sofa slide is out.

If it was a fluid problem wouldn't I have problems with kitchen slide also

Not sure how to manually retract.

The only suggestion I can think of is to add a bit of hydro fluid now and see if you can get the jacks up. Start with a half of a quart and see if that helps. If you add to much and retract the jacks and slide and it overflows its a mess to clean up. I don't think you will "bend" anything if that happens - but just a mess.

There is no problem with the Jacks or the kitchen slide. The problem is isolated to sofa slide. It is currently open and will not close

Is the a valve or relay or something that could be effecting only the one slide

I would give Equalizer a call and see if they can walk you through some procedures and possibly get the slide working.

I suspect your zone valve has dirt in it. Zones are identified on the top of the pump. You could try to remove the valve and flush it out. First have to remove the electric celluloid around the valve then the valve unscrews. fluid leek is minimal. This worked for me once. If cannot clean valve a new one is about $80. To manual retract turn screw on face of valve the opposite direction it is in now. I think counter clockwise and retract slide. You might want to manual retract prior to cleaning. Put the screw back in original position after the manual retract.

Make sure the coach is level. Less stress on the slide.

The valve would also cause the slide creep.

I had a very similar problem last year with my sofa slide. Somehow the alignment rod got out of sync and bent one of the end gears. Before you do anything else, crawl undet the slide and you will see a rod going across the underside of the slide inside the storage area. There is a rack and pinion gear at esch end of the rod (one will be inside where the propane tank is) and make sure neither is bent in the slightest. If one or both are jumped out of the rack gear and bent you have a nig problem. If you search my posts from June 5 last year you can see what i went through to fix it. There may be valves that allow selection which slide moves. That slide may be deselected. Manual or website?

I have called all of the mobile rv repair in the area. None are available.

Currently have a mobile hydraulics specialist here. He feels that it is a faulty seal in ram. Is removing ram and will replace seal

This is a guy that works on oil rigs and is used to making things work ... keeping my fingers crossed

Right now they are having a hard.time.removing ram since it is fully extended

When you bought the unit, you should have gotten a small tool that looks like a flexible screwdriver with a hex tool on the end. This is to put into a drill and turn the jacks manually from the pump unit. You have to set the valves manually, too, though. You mentioned you're on a steep grade - is the unit level? If not, is it possible the large slide is simply binding? Also, if you're not level, check the outlet for the hydraulic oil in the reservoir and make sure it's not exposed. It may be possible to slope enough that the pump actually runs out of oil while there is still some in the reservoir. If it has run out of oil that way, then I would imagine you now have air in the system which would need to be bled out - that one's beyond me and I think you'd need a service tech and a lot of oil to bleed it from the cylinder end of things.

I believe that the flexible tool is for the electric slide motor not the hydraulic slide on the Berkshire. It may be different on your Legacy.

My Berkshire came with one. I saw on another thread about using Marvel Mystery oil in the hydraulic system.
