We are leaving to travel across country this week. After all that has been going on with the weather this year in tornado alley we are concerned for our time we will be in those areas. My question is what apps do any of you use that is good for weather alerts per your gps location in a iPhone. I have the standard weather apps but it doesn't do the alerts while moving. There are a bunch out there so I was curious on what ones are the best. Thanks ken
The radio in my coach will break in on whatever you are listening to deliver a weather alert--if you have the setting selected.
I don't know of an app that will alert you to weather situations, but I use/have used/will continue to use the weatherbug app. It has a button that will show you current radar around your current location and there is the option to show the radar movement over the last couple hours or so, so you can tell if you are about to get soaked or if the system is moving away from you. I believe this was a free app for my iphone.
I have Verizon and my phone automatically tells me of any kind of alert. The only thing is that it just tells me of a tornado "in my area", so I have to go to the actual weather statement to get details.
Yeah the weather band is great when the radio is on. It has warned us a few times. I was hoping for something to alert us if we are sleeping. At home you can set the weather channel for your zip code to warn you. However while we travel it doesn't update per our location. I would imagine there has to be one that will update per location of travel.
I use the NOAA weather app....don't know if it costs as i don't remember but if you have a cell signal you can set up alerts to go off just like a weather radio for your particular counties. Very good app during spring weather. If you have a spotty cell signal alerts are sometimes delayed.
