What are the differences in model years of the 390 BH?

I'm in the market for a Bunkhouse motor home and I keep coming back to the Berkshire 390BH. Can anyone help me figure out if they changed a bunch of stuff on these coaches from 2010ish to 2013. The front looks a little different from 2011 and 2013... I know the current 400 BH is too long for my garage so I am focusing on the 390.

What was the first year for this model?

Any other insight?

Thanks for your help.

The earliest model year I have found has been 2010, I am not sure this is the first year they made them.

The porcelain floors were added in 2012, HD wiring, frameless windows, some new front & rear caps in 2014, there are some 390 BH & 400 BH models in 2014.

That's all l can think of at the moment, I'm sure others will post soon.

2010 had Vinyl floors. 2011-2012 has ceramic tile and some 2013 also. 2013-2016 has marble tile. 2011-2013 watch out for weight issues.

There were also several differences from year to year. They started building 390 bh in 2008. In 2014 they went to residential refrigerators away from the propane/electric versions. Also between 2011 and 2012 there were several changes like adding doors on the bunks, some finishing items.

In 2014 they eliminated the lighted door handle, map lights, front shade switches at the pilot seat and docking lights just to name a few changes. They did up the inverter to 2000 watts because of the change to residential refrig. Like Phil57 said the floor tiles change and if you get the ones with the ceramic make sure it has the 275/80R 22.5 tires as many did not have the tire upgrade and the front axle is over weight. Get the coach weighed before you buy. Also consider the 360 hp engine with the 3000 Allison Transmission for the greater towing capacity.

Good luck in your search. We love our 2012 390bh with the 360 engine.

This may or may not help you, but the 2015 and 2016 38A (which is a bunkhouse) both have Vinyl floors. Ours is 39'5" long. There are some great deals out there on the 2015 38A and that model didn't have the weight issues. There have been some water heater recalls on the 2015s and some of the 2016s (not the entire water heater, just 1 part on it).
I don't know where you are located, but we bought ours from Motorhome Specialists in Texas. They have pretty good prices, but the used ones don't stay on the lot very long. Berkshires are great coaches! You will be happy with your coach, no matter what year you finally decide on.

Not a big deal but they eliminated the lighted entry handle in 2013.

The whole issue that Phil and I and others had was in 2011,2012 and some 2013 units with tile floors came with 255/70R 22.5 tires. That is why we had the weight issue and had to have the tires and air bags upgraded. Mine is a BH and there are quite a few that needed or still need the upgrade. After the fiasco with having to upgrade FR started installing the larger tires on units with tile floors.

My 2010 390bh has tile floors. Engine choices were 340 and 350. DEF was introduced in 2011. 2010s have all digital entertainment. Rear cap has smaller tail lights on 2010.

Marty,
You had 255's originally and with the refit you went to 275's. That is what my 2014 390BH-60 had. On the new XL 40QL we have the same tires. No issue with weights on either coach.

It was great meeting you and Donna!

I believe that the 2012 was the first year with wood doors for the bunks.

I have 2011 39bh with 360 engine. I added residential refrig which was one of my best mods! Also added whole new sound and TV system with sounds like a theater. You can make it as you want! Enjoy
