What should I expect during a DPF REGEN?

Apologies for the multiple threads/questions the last few months as I get to know my new-to-me 2021 Berkshire 34B with the Cummins 6.7l ISB.
I searched the FR forum on this subject before posting, but all the threads were either 5+ years old or pick up truck related.
Here's my question: What should I expect when my coach is doing a REGEN and do you have any advice on what to do, things to avoid, etc?
This is a great forum and thanks, in advance, for your feedback.
Pete

The best placed to get an answer would be from Freightliner themselves. When in regen mode the DPF and exhaust are superheated to burn off excess soot in the DPF. I would contact Freightliner at 1-800-FTL-HELP (385-4357) for what they recommend and what you and how much time you can expect to be in a regen cycle.

Our Ram diesel we would sense a bit of diesel odor for 15 minutes or so early on.

Since the first year I remember nothing.

High tail pipe exhaust temp and decreased fuel milage. That's about it.

Never seen it

I had a Ford diesel engine that periodically I would see on the dash that it was in regen mode but on my ISB I never saw it. That maybe because that every time I drove it, the engine got up to temp and the trips were long and it never needed it. I attended a Cummins class and the question was asked. The answer was to keep driving and let it finish, maintaining at least 40 mph. If you really had to stop, then fine but watch out for the exhaust system as it will be really hot.

Consult your Freightliner manual for details regarding the DEF regeneration process.

In addition download the Freightliner My 24/7 direct phone application. Has all the details and a good explanation of the various lights that are displayed on the dash during or if you need a regen.

During "regen" do not park the rig close to any structure or vehicle. The exhaust is super-heated, and will burn or melt anything it comes in contact with.

The Regen is to burn off carbon soot that has collected in the exhaust system. It can build up if you idle the engine a lot.

So, shut the engine off if you aren't driving. I shut it off if there is a stoppage for road construction.

I'm amazed at how many trucks I see idling their diesels, even when re-fueling.
