Whirlpool Stackable Dryer 110v or 220v?

Hello, don't have access to any manuals right now. Would the Whirlpool stackable dryer in our 2019 Berkshire XL40D be 110v or 220v? Thanks in advance!

Almost definitely 120v.

It's a rare beast when an RV is wired up for 220v appliances because manufacturers want them to function when you're on a 30amp/120v campsite. If it were 220v, it would only work on 50amp/220v campsites.

Exactly what I thought. However, I started reading some posts online and it made me wonder. Thanks for the clarification.

I can confirm since I had to pull mine out to have the washer repaired - they're both 120v.

Dryer Voltage

I have the same make and model of motorhome as you. The dryer is 110 volt.

As mentioned I also have a 2019 40D so happy to help you with any questions or problems. I’ve probably had them already!

In actual fact a 240V appliance would have to be wired outside the RV load center.

That load center does have two 120V legs but they are split, each energizing one side of the load center each. No 240V is actually available through that load center.

Could it be done, sure, but as someone said,if you were at a 30A site you would not be able to run the dryer.

If L1 and L2 are independent circuits to the various loads, if I were plugged into a 30A shoreline, it would feed only one circuit right? Meaning one load center is dead.

Not correct, the 30A-50A adapter feeds both legs, but you only have 30A total.

This is less tan 1/3 the power supplied by a 50A system which has 2 50A legs for a total of 100A

Thanks Doug. I just bought a 2021 Berk 34B and never RVed before. Its parked under a tarp until May so I am in the learning mode. I have the 50 to 30 adapter on my shopping list. The precision plex has an ammeter so when plugged into a 30A shoreline, I suppose I need to manage the load. If I need a bunch of power I have the 8kW Onan gen.

The vast majority of the time you will find 50A service, but it is good to be armed with the information in case you are surprised with less.

If you are on 30A here are a couple of tips,

If your AC is running (only 1 at a time) you will not be able to run your microwave or DWs hair dryer.

The Hair Dryer and Microwave at the same time will also trip the breaker.

Other large electrical draws will also trip the breaker if in combination with one another.

Here is a link to a list of the appliances in RVs and their respective electrical draw.

PS, your 8KW generator gives you 66 amps, double the 30A at a pedistal

Thanks Bud. Also the precision plex detects 30 or 50 service and has a load shedding scheme that you can assign what to shed if you exceed the amps. I have yet to play with that.

Definetly there are 110 Volts, as for the 30 amp coach question you will not be able to get 240 V from it since it only uses one Hot Leg of Power. But the 50 amp does use both Hot legs to power the Coach but the equipment including the A/C are all 100 volt
