Our coach made a trip back to the factory to deal with a weight distribution problem (see the Front Axle Weight thread) and was returned to us in early April. As I was "de-winterizing", I ran into a problem with the washing machine - the display was showing a code I didn't recognize and none of the controls would respond. After messing with it for a while, I arranged a warranty service call through Whirlpool. I was told when I scheduled the call that I would need to unstack the washer/dryer and pull the washer out so the tech could get to all four sides of the unit.
Long story short, the washer had gone into "demo mode". The repair guy couldn't figure it out even with the service manuals so he contacted Whirlpool tech support. According to the Whirlpool tech support folks this is fairly common in RV's where voltage fluctuations can happen as power is switched between shore power, inverter/battery, and generator. The process to return the washer to normal operation is to power it on, press the program and options button simultaneously until it beeps, and power it off. When you turn it back on, it will be back to normal.
I wanted to post this in case someone else with this model of washer runs into this. Hopefully it will save them the hassle of having to pull the washer and dryer out of the cabinet. Taking them out was relatively easy. Putting them back in is a bit more of a challenge - there just isn't much room to maneuver.
Below are pictures of the panel of the washing machine displaying "dEn" which apparently means demo mode, and the model information. Of course, there is no mention of this demo mode (or how to get out of it) in the manual included with the machine.
