Windshield upgrade possible?

I was just wondering...has anyone upgraded from a two piece windshield on their older Berks to a single piece full-view windshield? I'd like to know how integral the center spar is on these older units and if a single windshield would provide enough support. If/when I need to replace it, I'd like to know what my options might be...

I'd also like to get the windshield wipers moved (if possible) so they don't sit in the middle of my view...probably more $$ than it's worth, but I'd like to know if anyone has tackled that...

The windshield itself is extremely expensive. Mine was broken when the unit was driven up from Indiana by dealer.

Since it was a small Crack along the bottom. The windshield was purchased on the dealers tab and was stored for me until the Crack came into view a couple of years later.

I seem to recall him telling me that the cost of the glass alone was about 3500 or more.
