12v fridge venting.

Sorry, I don't recall which thread, or who posted it but someone here gave their 12v fridge better ventilation and noted that it ran significantly less.

There is a small panel above our fridge where I could try this. More or less the width of the fridge and maybe 2.5" tall.

Question is about how to go about it.

It does not appear to be easily removed, so I was thinking in situ.

I have a multi tool saw and could use shims to make nice clean cuts but am a bit worried about what might be behind it and also, that even doing several, they'd be so thin as to not be meaningful.

Could also drill a series of holes but finding (or making) the right template might be a bit of a chore.

Back to the multitool, could also hack out an opening, for a ready made vent cover.

Again, sorry I don't recall who but could you give more details on how this was done?

Some have added holes from a side that is available. Preferably in a place that is not seen. Looks like you might have access from the outside kitchen also. One member even added a circulating fan. Believe he made upper and lower holes in his side cabinet to let air circulate.

I used these to make vents for my bathroom vanity.

The gap at the top of my refrigerator is about an inch and is only vent. There is about 1 1/2" between the walls and the unit though but no vent gap along the sides. Opening wood stiles cover the vertical sides fairly close, almost tight.

Thanks for the link.

The bottom is already vented from the factory, so I'm thinking something above it would be the most efficient.

I like those pop-in vent covers, thanks for posting. When I vent mine I think I'll use a hole saw and finish it with these.
