Exclamation 2-way fridge CONVERSION?

Hello,
last year i purchased a 2019 cruise lite , when i looked at the camper i failed to observe the fridgerator operations. I was completely unaware that 12v systems are a thing now as i had been out of the camping game for a bit.

So, my set up currently is a 12v. 110 service. my question- Is there a way to convert the 2 way unit into a 3 way so i can use LP also? or do i need to purchase a 3 way unit and install it? I do alot of boondock camping and cant justify adding an extra battery as well as a solar set up ( at about 4gs) just because the fridge kills my battery. Any insight would be great!

Thank you!
-chris

Sorry, but you are in for a lot of expense. In addition to the refer itself, that would include running an LP line and creating a vent stack of some kind in the body of the trailer.

There is no way to converter your existing 12V fridge to a propane operated fridge.

Tell us the model of the fridge and we'll be able to help more. However, whether you have a 12 volt or 120 volt compressor fridge or a 2-way propane/120 volt fridge, you will have to replace it and possibly run propane/power as mentioned above to convert it.

Do you have a 120v refrigerator that runs off an inverter? Or a 12V compressor? If the latter, you'd be much better off upgrading the batteries to LFP. (Actually, those will work for both but the 12V compressor is the better option of the two.) In addition to keeping the refrigerator running without fear of it dying, those batteries will serve you very well for other purposes.

Also, consider a recharging system, whether that's solar or an inverter generator, or a combination of both. A modest solar system may be totally satisfactory under most conditions with a generator filling in on high usage or cloudy/rainy days.

There is no such thing, in RVs, as a 12v DC/110v AC fridge.
You can have a 3-way fridge(110v AC/12v DC/propane), a 2-way fridge(110v AC/propane), a 12v only fridge or a 110v residential fridge.
So you need to provide make and model number of the fridge.

I interpreted that as probably being a 120V refrigerator running off a 12V inverter but we do need clarification to provide useful answers.

Not aware of any Salem Lite trailers with a residential fridge but I could be wrong.
