2021 surveyor legend "forest river"

Going camping on Friday to NC. I have not used my heater but tonight
pulled camper home and lit the Suburban heater.

First I plugged camper in to 30 amp circuit at the house.
2nd made sure propane was on and I had a light at the stove.
3rd furnace appears to have lit, I had thermostat on heat and at 80degrees.

Air blew warm but the ceiling smoke detector came on after a few minutes.

Wondering if its because its a new camper and there was some new smell
burning off. Did I do everything correct?

I have since turned off the furnace and thinking I might not have heat for this next weekend getaway.

Thanks,

Ray

Yep, your dealer should have advised you to run the furnace with the windows open, BEFORE camping in it.
This burns off the manufacturering oils in a new furnace.

If you have time ,definitely run the unit again with the doors and everything open, As Dan said ,It has to burn off.

If you have the electric fireplace. It will stink some. Ask me how I know. Good time to run it. 30 amps will run it fine.

Have fun!

Took 2 full tanks of propane and 10-15 nights to get rid of the smell in my 2021 Surveyor Legend. It's not too bad now. Very disapointed with the heating system. 2 little vents blowing into the cabin and 2 vents blowing into the underbelly. Not a sufficient system for a 25' trailer. It's way too loud and it wakes us up every time it kicks on during the night.
