8325SS Bedroom TV install

I am preparing to install a TV mount in the bedroom where it says TV mount. I have found out that its a 1/4" thick steel plate 10" square with the label in the middle. I contacted Forest River for a screw size, the 3" screws that came with mount are too long. The only thing that they would tell me is a 1/4" screw, self taping would work. However they would not tell me the length. I have 1 1/4" and 1 1/2" screws. I don't want the screws to go through the outside of the camper. Has any one done the install, any help would be useful.
