A/B Speaker Switch in Doorway

I have the A/B speaker switch in my doorway. I flipped it back and forth, and I cannot ascertain any difference in speakers. Is my A/B speaker switch just there by design and nothing was done with it?

It's confusing as I think some of the models are wired differently but here's the general idea. A is the fronts, in the cab. B is the backs, in the coach part. All is both fronts and back.

Already tried that. No difference. Doesn't matter if it's on A or B or both, all sounds the same. And I have excellent hearing!

I don't have outside speakers. Now I know I'm not the only one.

I have a new Forester 3051S MH and have the same observation about the A/B switch. It doesn't seem to control anything. All of the speakers are on in every switch position.

Ok, it's an "idiot" switch. I'm guessing this switch is common to a lot of RV's and like someone else said, maybe it goes to outside speakers which I don't have.

We were trying to figure out the switch this past weekend and can not tell any difference. Maybe somebody will finally chime in and explain it.

Why don't you just pull the switch out and check how many pairs of wires are hooked to it?

In my experiment, "A" is the speakers in the cab door, "B" controls the two speakers at the over cab bed (don't know what it would be for those that have the entertainment center up there) and both is both the door speakers and the over cab bed speakers.
Took me a while to figure "A" was the cab because I always heard the audio in the rest of the coach. Finally I realized no audio in the cab when I selected "B".
I guess it is for when you are driving and the occupants in the back are watching TV, you turn off the "A" speakers to lessen the distraction.

Well, I guess since I have the entertainment center, I probably don't have speakers over the cab bed. Ok, I'm going to try an experiment based on what you did. Be right back.

Ok, here is what happened.

BOTH: Cab speakers and kitchen speakers.

B: Kitchen speakers only

A: Cab speakers and kitchen speakers, same as "both" so what's the point?

I dunno, maybe because of parts standardization they use a 3 position switch in all units even though in some units they could have used just a 2 position switch. At least now you know it switches something even though it is just 2 speaker sets.

I think I said in an earlier post on this thread that my switch does exactly what bgilly's switch does. A is cab. B is ceiling. Both is both cab and ceiling.

So it's pretty obvious that your switch is wired wrong. If it's a big deal you need to get the A position to be just cab.

I personally like the switch and use either the B or both position depending on circumstances.

If we are driving and listening to music or stopped and watching a movie, it's on both.

But if we are driving and the kids are watching a movie, it's on B (I.e., would rather talk to my wife without having to yell over the movie especially since it's generally more of a kids movie).

I don't think I've ever used the A position beyond testing out the switch.

Mine was wired wrong. Had an A and B speaker switched so always had sound both rooms regardless of switch position. Wrung em out and wired correctly. Sounds better as well.

Wow. well, I'm a solo, so really doesn't matter. But I guess later on if I sold it, it might be an issue......
