A/C blows breaker w/generator on

Using the generator to power the A/C while driving,
with the outside temp 95-100, the A/C breaker blows
after 15-20 minutes. It is set on low.
2006 Forest River Georgetown; 90 hours on gen; 5500 watt
Guardian gen. The AC works fine hooked up to Alt.current.

Do you have a volt meter? Need to check a plug and see how many volts is there with the genny running. It may be running a low voltage and increasing the amps drawn by the A/C and then trips the breaker.

I'm a newb I know but based on your description I would think that because your running the A/C while driving the air going across the housing is creating a low pressure area reducing airflow across the evaporator. I would assume that 15-20 minutes of this is causing the unit to freeze up and throw the breaker.

Just my 2 cents.

This is a good thought too... Voltage goes down Amps go up!

Generator p[roblem

Actually if the a/c is freezing up, there will be no air flow inside the coach. And if it is freezing up the amps will drop because of no load on the compressor.

Sounds like a generator problem, rather than the a/c

generator

Is your power cord heavy enough so you don't get a voltage drop?
