Unhappy A/c problems

Hello everyone, I'm Yahwah15 and have a question concerning my a/c unit. I have a 2004 Forest River Rockwood 8298ss. It has a Dometic roof air central unit. We are getting the camper ready for Talladega so we tried the a/c yesterday, it would only come on if we put it on 40 degrees. It would blow cold air. Is it the thermostat? We have an analog thermostat. I figure since it was blowing cold Freon was not the problem. Any ideas would be most appreciated.

Yes that would be a good opinion, you can try to remove the thermostat cover see if there is something preventing proper operation, like dust, otherwise probably need a new one.
