AC Fan Running Non-Stop

I have a Salem travel trailer. When the trailer is plugged in and the thermostat is turned on for AC, the fan starts running and never shuts down, even after the trailer gets to tempature. It also runs when the thermostat is set to heat. I have to turn off the breaker for the AC unit to get it to shut down. I tried replacingthe thermostat unit, but that did not fix it. Any suggestions?

We'll need to know the make and model number of your A/C unit to make any kind of guess.

If you have an Atwood AirCommand AC-1511 (or AC-1311) then that behavior is normal. For who knows what reason, the room temperature sensor is inside the roof unit and not inside the thermostat. The fan needs to run continuously to draw room air across the temperature sensor.

Dumb.

sounds like the atwood air command.

when in AC I use auto, this way if the AC comes on and it needs a stronger fan it can auto adjust, but once AC compressor shuts off it goes back to low.

in Heat (heat pump) it actually cycles the fan on and off, which at night some feel is worse than a fully running fan because of one solid unchanging nose, you have a fan cycling. but you get used to it.

than when in gas heat mode it uses a thermometer in the thermostat and only runs the gas heater, which as a fan that turns on based on heater temps.

no way to change it because this is how its designed.
