Air Conditioner

Recently purchased a 2019 Nitro xlr with the 2 air conditioning units. We can get the unit in the bedroom to turn on but can not get the unit in the kitchen area to turn on. This is only the second time we have used it. Wanting to know how to get units to turn on properly.

are you plugged in?

what power source are you using?

does the coach have an EMS system to limit things from running in order
to minimize breaker tripping?

is everything ELSE working?

you'll have to give us more details...

Are you plugged into 30amp or 50amp?

The power source we were using was the genator, everything else was working, but the fans would not come on either, and no breakers were tripped.

is the generator large enough to power both? is it onboard, or is this an outside generator you are 'plugging into'?

The power source we were using was the genator, everything else was working, but the fans in bathroom nor kitchen would come on either, we checked breakers and none of them were tripped. The wall thermostat unit for kitchen area would not even light up.

Until you tell the size of the generator or make and model, we can only guess.

VDC power issue, the fans are 12VDC and the thermostat for the AC is 12VDC.

The genator is on board. But this did happen the first time we took it camping and that time it was hooked up to 50amp service. This has 2 ac units.

Do the A/C units have a single dual zone thermostat, or do they have separate thermostats, or is one of them a manual unit with the knobs and the other a thermostat unit?

They are 2 separate panels, one in bedroom, one on wall with other components, and they are the dometic soft touch, no knobs.

I'm thinking Daycruiser may be onto something.
Does the thermostat for the kitchen unit light up?
Did you check all the 12 volt fuses in the power panel?

if the a/c unit's thermostat doesn't operate, or is 'dead', it will certainly keep the a/c unit from working, even though they are on two separate 'power systems' - the thermostat is 12v, from the Fuse Panel, and the a/c unit is 120v, from the Main Breaker Panel.

You might have a loose 12v connection behind that Thermostat panel, or somewhere along the line, or even back to the Fuse Panel, if it's on it's own fuse.

5500 ONAN has two circuits, you need both to run 50 amp service. Check breakers at generator, you might have tripped one. There's also a posibility it is not wired for both circuits. Has it ever run both AC's on generator?

a 5500 unit should easily run 'both' air conditioners, and this doesn't sound like that is the issue - the unit also probably only has a single 'visable' breaker, even though it is actually TWO breakers, tied together with a single handle. 30amps on one, 20amps on the other, or a similar design. Both would be 'wired' from the factory, back to the ATS, and into the Main Panel, just like Shore Power is.

Now, this is not to say that you could have a loose wire within the ATS, which might sometime make contact and work just fine, but other times mysteriously 'not' work when the connection is not tight... some of us have had this same issue - tightening up all wires in the ATS and the Main Panel solved most of those.
