Antenna Won't Turn

We tried to use the antenna this last week for the first time on our 2013 8289WS 5'er and I turned crank to raise it (only turned about 1.5 turns) and then went to rotate the antenna after pulling down on the rotator but it would not turn. Any ideas as to what may be going on? Also could not get any picture on any channels but not sure the TV was set correctly but I tried every setting I could think of and nothing.

Takes more than 1-1/2 turns on mine to raise it all the way.

I don't think you fully raised it - it takes about 8 turns on mine. I don't think they'll rotate until fully raised. I had a different problem with mine the first time we tried it. The roof seams had been re-caulked just before we bought it and the person doing it though the ring around the antenna should also be caulked! It didn't take long to peel it off.

Over-the-air TV needs a digital to analog converter, unless your TV set is one of the newer ones that has a built in converter.

Are you able to get up on the roof? Sounds like you might need to get up on the roof and see if maybe the antenna is caught on something? Like OC said, it will take many (up to 10 turns) to fully raise the antenna.
Does it just stop turning or do you hear a noise like the gears are grinding when you raise the antenna?

The gears are plastic and you might have broken a tooth (or teeth) by trying to rotate the antenna without it being fully up.

This could be an expensive repair if the body of the gearing needs to be replaced. (For others, remember that the mechanism needs to be lubricated every season!)

All three of my rvs, my brothers, father-in-law's three and nephew's have all taken 13 complete turns to get it fully extended. And 13 turns down to completely lower it. You'll hear a "clunk" when it is down. Good luck.

we had the same problem with our antennae on our 2014 Avenger and took it back to the dealership and made them fix it. we still can't get a picture on the tv, so it is to be looked at the dealership where it is back there again for other issues. this is the 3rd time we have taken it back to have work done, and we bought it in June. at this rate the ealership has had it more than we have.
