Barbeque hung off siding issues?
We have the supplied barbeque that came with our 2014 5th wheel that attaches to the rail on the siding. I have concerns about the heat that is subjected to the trailer siding. Has anyone experienced any distortion or other issues from this set up. We are using it on a separate table now but would like to use it on this rail setup.

This has been brought up before, and I've yet to hear of anyone who has had any problems with it hanging on the side.

Same here. No issues except if there is a open window nearby and you get the wind blowing in the right direction you might get some smoke in the interior. Besides that, no issues heard with the trailer siding melting or fading because of the Barbeque.

Clearly cooks greak food
Seen on left rear... I can smell the baby backs cooking from here.

Same here. No problems with grease or heat on side of camper. If in doubt, place your hand on the camper behind the grill during cooking.

I have had the barbeque on the side and heated it up while checking the back against the siding. It seemed to me that it was very warm, I could still touch it with my hands but not for long. I even placed a piece of cardboard there to try and reduce the heat on to the siding but concerned that would start on fire. My next thought is to wrap a piece of card board with tin foil and try that.
Has the siding been the same material over the years?
If none of you have had an issue then maybe I'm over reacting.....|I'm sure this would be covered under warranty if anything should happen.....NOT!
Thanks for all the input.

Don't put anything between the grill and the RV wall, especially something flammable like cardboard. The gap between the grill and the RV should act as a chimney. This will keep air moving and move the heat away from the area.

Echo the comments thus far - we've put ours through the ringer for three seasons with no issues. Lots of burgers, steaks etc and although the side of the TT gets a little warmish, it's not so much so as to get raise some hairs. There's a warning too related to the use of the RVQs to not fire them up under the awning. Umm... we done that too (rain) on a number of occasions - no worries. The caveat is that you stand by your cooking apparatus and closely monitor the operation during the production of succulence.

I had one and it didn't cause any problems other than, as somebody already said, the smoke getting into the trailer via an open window. I had a rack that the BBQ hung off of and it came with the BBQ. If it's the same style as the one I had then you could take it( the rack) off the wall and set it up on a table next to the trailer. Mine was under the awning and there was never a problem with that either but be vigilant. Just like the one in the above post by Kandl.

Good point I forgot to mention bracket can be turned so grill can be used on a table top as well as hung on the side of camper.

Op is this yours?
If so turn the hanginging bracket on its back"where it would mount on camper"
Then set your grill on the now vertical pipes via the second "t" mount on grill.

without knowing which grill you're talking about, it's not easy to say.
most FR products come with the Sidekick grill, NOT the RVQ. many call theirs an RVQ but FR hasn't supplied those since before 2005.
and are you using the supplied bracket correctly?
we've been using ours for the past 7 years and NEVER had any issues.
is it the best BBQ grill, NO! but it works quite well for dogs, chicken, burgers and most smaller grill items.
the side of our trailer never gets as hot as it does sitting in the summer sun for hours!

Concur but FR adds to the confusion by continuing to refer to the outdooe gas grill arrangement as "RVQUE" in their brochures. Many simply abbreviate to RVQ. From the 2011 Rockwood brochure - same for 12 and 13

Works great for fresh pizza too! Just put on low, slide your fresh crust on the grate for about 3 minutes, pull it off, flip it over, put your toppings on and return to the grill for about 10 minutes until cheese is bubbly and brown. Yum! Of course, works bettrr with a Round Barn Woodcrafts pizza peel. Insert shameless plug here. LOL

So then here is a question... My new RV doesn't have the rail on the side but does have a propane connection. Should I let the dealer install a rail for me, do it myself, or not do it at all since it didn't come with it. I have an extra sidekick that I bought a few months back.

Regardless of who does it, MAKE SURE they put a backer board inside to screw/bolt thru. Otherwise it will be coming loose or coming off. The factory mounted rail on our 08Flagstaff 831RLSS came loose the 1st time we used it. Dealer put longer, bigger stainless bolts/nuts thru a backer board and it never came loose again. Our 12Flagstaff 8528RKWS has longer screws into a backer board.
