battery on/off switch

I have a 2013 flagstaff 831 hooked up to electric power does the battery on off switch need to be push in or pulled out? And should i use gas or electric power for frig and hot water i have a seasonal site? It seems like the usage is quite a bit for electic was at camp site for 6 weekend was 120.00 for electic bill wth the frig and hot water on all the time. I thought i was shutting the hot water off at electrical panel but i know i was just shutting of the gas igntion switch
