Cable TV Outside Hookup

I'm trying to hook a outside antenna with a amplifier to the outside cable connector. I turn the light off on the inside TV amplifier and run a cable scan on the TV. When I do this I only get the VHF channels no UFH channels . So to see if my antenna is working right and receiving VHF and UFH . I hooked it straight to the TV and ran a scan it got both. So why I', only getting the VHF though the cable wire from outside.

Are you sure you did the same scan both times?

You mentioned doing a 'cable' scan first.
That won't work.

Different TV's are different but you need to find and do an 'antenna' scan or sometimes called 'off air.'

The way you are connecting it with the cable connection is just basically adding a longer coax to the mix. That shouldn't have a thing to do with not getting UHF channels.

Cable TV outside hookup

You were right . You hook up the TV antenna wire to the outside cable hookup then you run a TV antenna scan on the TV, not a cable scan on the TV and it will work great. Thanks
