can't get cable tv to work

I am unable to get any cable channels. did channel search in cable mode

Check your boost button. It needs to be off for cable.

2nd on the boost button. Had a guy next to a few weeks ago who asked why he could not cable tv. Told him to make sure the booster was off. He pulled his tv(his booster was behind the tv) and sure enough....he got all the cable channels. He had not been able to get cable for his tv in 3 years until then.
