Can't remove Genesis GT 2.0

I want to upgrade the audio in our 2013 Rockwood 2109. In order to do that it's necessary to access the wiring harness for the Genesis. After removing the trim caps and screws to remove the unit I can only pull it forward about 4 inches. There are audio plugs on the rear right that jam up against the back of the cabinet. No amount of wiggling will set it free. Why FR didn't use some right angle RCA's so it would clear the opening is beyond me.

Does anyone know if FR assembled the cabinet (with radio) as a sub assembly before installing it in the TT? If so I would really appreciate some advice on how to remove the cabinet to get this radio out. Thanks in advance for any assistance you can give. - R

It was tight in my Flagstaff. I found I had to put a lot of pressure and twist so the left side would come out first, then the pulled it out. Now that I know how to do it subsequent removals went easy.

I gave that a try Kaadk but the left side is still 2 inches behind the cabinet frame and it will not come out without breaking the cabinet. Does anyone know how the cabinet is installed?

I had that problem when I swapped the TV and Genesis positions. I had to remove the 1X2 piece of framing that supported the radio. (On a 21FBRS). I had to knock out one of the stapled panels first.

How did you reinstall the 1x2 and stapled panel afterwards 00buck?

The 1X2 is screwed into the frame horizontally. There is a slot cut into the 1x2. I replaced the panel using Velcro so I could remove it easily for repairs and changes.

As I think about it, you might not even have to remove the 1X2. After I knocked out the panel the RCA plugs were easily accessible.

PS. Agree that FR didn't choose the best method of installing a radio.

Thanks for the reply 00buck. I can see that it would be possible to get a hand around the back of the unit to unplug the RCA's if the panel was removed. Only concern is how to reinstall the panel afterwards. Any wisdom for me on that? Thanks for all your time!

You're welcome. Take it slowly when you knock out the panel. It's not very thick. I hit a 1X2 lightly with a hammer to loosen the staples and then a moulding pry bar to finish the job. Good Luck!
