Cedar creek fridge not working

Last week when I got home from a trip the fridge was not working, it works when plugged in to shore power but not when driving. Have checked the batteries and they are good, did test on the converter and it was good, inverter seems to be working, all fuses are good, I am now stumped, any help?

Voltmeter.

Is there power at the socket?

Is there power at the inverter outlet on the unit.

Voltage of the batteries. Above 12, shoild be 12.6

The inverters are full of possibilities.

Helps to narrow the field.

Open the lower vent cover. If power is good at plug in receptacle then check the 4amp in line fuse. Red wire with black plastic cover over fuse holder.

I assume by saying the inverter is working that it's a residential fridge?

You said that the inverter seems to be working. How did you determine that?

Are there any messages on the inverter?

Just checked, plugged to the truck, cut off shore power and turned inverter on. Inverter shows 11.6. Leads behind inverter read 13.4 also batteries read 13.4. Fridge is working now but the CO detector is still beeping. Something must still be wrong?

disconnect the truck and get the battery voltage. my guess is your batteries are low (the 11.6). the 13.4 is probably coming from the truck batteries / alternator. most inverters have status lights and a display panel that show status. they also shutoff when the battery gets low. when they do this the indicate the low battery condition.

it is not a guarantee that your truck can provide enough amperage to run the refrigerator through the inverter when the batteries are low.

Wild guess............the inverter probably powers just one receptacle. Maybe this fridge is not plugged into that receptacle??????????

Are you sure your meter is reading correctly? Getting 13.6 volts on a standing battery is pretty uncommon. Especially when the inverter is reading 11.6.

Test your meter on a known source (i.e. new 9 volt battery) and see what it reads.

Brand new meter. Everything works now except the CO keeps beeping, called the co that makes it said on it does get to low voltage and goes off it cannot be reset and must be replaced, has anyone else heard of this?

do you have solar? you should not be getting 13.6 from the batteries. 13.6 is a charging voltage. something is trying to charge the batteries. we need to voltage of the batteries themselves. i'm still suspicious of the 11.6 that the inverter is reporting

Even though the meter is brand new, I'd still test it. Just for insurance.

It's hard to believe that they'd make a monitor that failed after a low voltage event. Even hard wired residential units are prone to power failures. And I've never seen a unit that the battery didn't get turned off or go dead once in a while.

Also check for a loose connection at the battery and the back of the inverter

Inverter reads 11.6V

You measured the batteries at 13.6V

Two different voltages.

That make me wonder if the batteries are wired wrong.

How many batteries do you have? Are they 6V or 12V batteries?

Some dealers have connected one set (trailer) of wires (+ and -) to one battery and the other (inverter) set to the other battery. That is wrong. Both sets of wires need to be connected to all batteries. Otherwise the converter only charges one battery and the battery the inverter is connected to does not get charged.

We need more info to help. Which wires are connected where?
