Cherokee 274DBH Antenna Options
Looking for suggestions for replacing the Winegard RS-3000 television antenna that came with our 2015 Cherokee 274DBH. The reception is rather poor, the signal even poorer by a person standing under the antenna location inside the trailer.
Hopefully I can get information leading me to a candidate to be used for the replacement. I will be swapping out the antenna myself, and have no issues or problem with removal of the old and performing whatever is required for the installation of the new antenna.

I really don't have a suggestion for you, but I have a 274DBH and agree the antenna is terrible. I will be following this thread, if you find a replacement that works well, please post so I can get one for our trailer.

I had posted same ? In a earlier post with just one reply so I researched some more and I believe you have the Same one I have, about 12" round flying saucer Piece of junk. From what I have been able to find out the antenna Head is not removable without destroying it. So I think to be able to replace you'll need a complete antenna kit of your choice. The antennas that your crank up and down require a larger hole and also a hole in your ceiling for the crank assembly. Also I believe the coaxle might not be long enough. I'm looking into some other options as I do not want to muck up my ceiling in a new RV. Good luck with your problem.

Does the Winegard RS-3000 use the same wall plate as the Winegard Sensar "bat wing" antenna? That wall plate has a push button for the amplifier built in to the antenna. Just want to be sure you are turning on the amp.

Yes, I believe the plate just lets you give 12 volts to amplify antenna. Should be same.

I have the same wall plate with the switch as used with the batwing, and I did remember to turn it on and off.
I have spoken with folks at campgrounds with that also have a Cherokee with the same antenna and they experience the same problems as I do.
That would lead me to believe that the antenna is the problem, at least with the Cherokee's.
I have been looking at the Winegard Rayzar, and the King Jack. Wondering if anyone using either one with good results?

I put a King on my previous RV and had Great results. But on my new RV I am not ready to cut bigger hole in roof and then put hole in ceiling inside. Thinking about mabee King on extendable flag pole to fasten on ladder at rear of RV.

winegard razor
We just ordered one to replace the original antenna on our 5th wheel. Got it for $304.00 at PPL , no tax or shipping. We are sick of reception from old antenna.

RS-3000 reply
We have a Winegard RS-3035 similar to RS-3000 and we can not get any reception. I have contacted Winegard and and replaced wall plug with amplifier. Still did not work. Comments from others say it is piece of junk. I believe that. I made homemade HD antenna and reception is great connecting it straight to TV. Will be using that setup instead. Good luck.

Homemade HD antenna
Here is the You Tube site. Mine looks like this but I used 8 gauge copper wire. Pulled in 40 channels. Search for "penney loop HD antenna". You might also check out "stealth hawk antenna". Good camping.

274DDH antenna
I have a 2017 274DBH and I was shocked at how well the antenna worked. I wasn't expecting much, but did the channel scan and we got about 15 channels. Sure it's not like home but the picture was HD perfect. Last time out we were at a place that had full hookups including cable. So I hooked up the cable, and the picture wasn't near as good as the over air channels. The cable did give us a few more channels, but after awhile I switched back to the over air antenna. I was able to watch all the football games last weekend, and on prior trips was able to watch NASCAR. I to will follow this thread to see what you guys come up with. That big copper thing is interesting. Thank you guys for doing all the work, and sharing your results.
