Question co2 detector

We had to cut the co2 wires last night. It started beeping (4 beeps). We turned off the water heater, oven and opened the window and door in the bedroom, where the co2 is located over the bed. Put a fan in the room and it continued for over 1/2 hour. Going out to buy a new one today and install it. DH is an electrician so no problem. I sleep with the window open.
