Concertone ZX600 weather

I live in an area where reception is not the greatest but it is not a dead zone. I can pick up a few am stations and a dozen or so fm but I can not get any of the weather stations in. I can select all the bands but all I get is static. If I remember correctly they are suppose to be broadcasting all the time, right? What am I missing? Thought maybe it was tied into the tv antenna but it is up right now and made no difference. Any ideas? I would like to have them working.

it is actually using the radio antenna. Depending upon antenna type you may want to upgrade that.

I don't have a clue as to where the radio antenna is at. I did pull the radio / stereo unit out of the wall to look at the wiring. What a mess!! I have heard of it being described as a rat nest but that is not accurate. I have seen neater rats nests! I worked many years as an industrial electrician. If I had left wiring looking like that I would have fired myself!

When I put everything back in the wall I suddenly started to receive a station in. So far it has continued to work but for how much longer? I do know the antenna lead goes up inside the wall by the stairs. Where does it go from there? Does anyone know? Where is the antenna located? Is it attached to the TV antenna?

I hope to get back to Classic RV where I bought this unit and maybe they can tell me.

I also got rid of an ac hum I had on the main area speakers when I disturbed the wiring, what a MESS! I am half afraid to touch it again. Next time I remove it I will be sure to have a bunch of wire connectors and heat shrink, oh and wire ties.
