Converter Fan Cycles

When I turn on the light on my stovetop hood, the converter cooling fan cycles on and off. No other light in the camper seems to do this, any thoughts? Gene

Have you checked the battery's charge with a multimeter and without being plugged into shore power?
Generally the converter fan will run constantly if the battery is bad.

The converter issue happens while plugged into shore power.

That's because the converter only works when plugged into shore power, in order to recharge the battery. If you're NOT plugged into shore power, the converter doesn't work.

Check your lights. My hood light was incandescent and suck more power than 4 of the LED lights on the ceiling. Could be the higher current triggers the fan circuit.

Exactly! If a well functioning converter is using the cooling fan it means it is working hard to supply 12V power. It could possibly mean that the battery doesn't have enough stored 12 volt power to run the TT and you are relying on the converter too much to make up the difference. There is a lot of "ghost" 12 volt drain on a battery and turning on the lights may be the straw that broke the camels back.

Most often it is the battery that is the root of 12 volt power issues.

is the light above the stove connected to a stove fan as well?

I'd rather see the converter fan come ON.... than stay OFF
converter will decide when it needs cooling...

unless the fan is noisy ... no big deal if it is running or not

the fan is not going to drain the battery cause you are connected to 120v

X2
Mine comes on and off as needed as far as I have noticed. I think even ambient temperature is a part of it. Do not run the air a lot and converter fan was on yesterday afternoon after dumping my tanks and moving a spot over and is off this morning.
