Directv satellite issue

We have 2 directv boxes in our Cedar Creek Silverback. We went down for the weekend at the resort we have the trailer at. The bedroom and living room TV both gave me a 771 signal. Unplugs everything. Plugged it back in and bedroom unit works now but I can’t get the living room unit to work. Still gives a 771 signal. The directv box appears to be working just fine. I noticed there is a small black box on top of my directv box. I am wondering if this is some kind of a switching box that goes to both TV’s. and perhaps that is what has gone out.
Anyone have any ideas?

This is what I always do:

Go to your DirecTv online account page, find the “Your Equipment” page, then refresh your receivers. Even though one of them is working now, you might as well refresh both while you are doing it. After doing that and waiting about five minutes (it usually only takes a second or two, though), if you still get the 771, push the red reset button on the receiver that isn’t working.

And the little black box you mention is probably the power inserter. It can be installed anywhere on the system, but you will usually find it nearest to the DVR receiver. This should have nothing to do with the 771 error, though.

Already tried that and that is how 8 got the bedroom unit back up and going. Still can’t get the living room unit to work. TV is fine so that is not the issue. I am stumped.
I have also had Firectv to shoot a signal to unit. That didn’t work either.

Try refreshing the living room receiver again.

Which receiver is the DVR?

Living room has the larger Directv unit. I am guessing it is the DVR

Then you definitely don’t have a problem with cables because that is your primary receiver. If you are getting a signal to the other receiver, the DVR is also receiving a signal. Hopefully a second refresh and maybe another reset will do the trick.

X2. The power injector merely powers the SWiM (multiswitch) to allow single wire configuations. The 771 error means that the receiver is not receiving a signal from the dish. If you were receiving a signal you would at least be able to pull in the DirecTV "tease channel". I'll bet if you check your Satellite Test Channels you'll find you have no signal on any of the transponders. Check your wiring and connections from the back of the receiver to the dish.

DirecTV-Error Code 721

Another method if you have cell phone service is to call 800-531-5000. Once your account is located in the system, state you need "technical support, Error code 721". The "system' will automatically conduct a reset. No need to talk to or wait for an actual person. Takes about 1-2 minutes and available 24/7.

Did you get this worked out? If so, what was the solution? Your answer will help others here.
