Dish pay as you go

If i reactivate my Dish pay as you go from the app do i have to have everything connected right then or will it automatically connect a week later when we get to the campground?

You should turn it on when you activate it. I've never done it any differently. Besides, you'll want to know all your equipment is in working order before you leave on a trip

As long as the receiver has not been off/disconnected for a heck of a long time it should reactivate easily once you power it up as its all just software, it might take a minute.
Even if you do a hard reset and wipe the receiver back to factory new in the box condition, once it downloads a bunch of updates after it connects it will communicate with the server and match up its numbers with the activation.

Where you can run into problems is if you can't get the dish itself aligned to get the updates and activation. It can sometimes be a royal PITA with certain receivers. The Wally is one.

I've had mine since 2019 and activate a few days before leaving on a trip and it's not unusual to be off line for 6-8 months since rving season is May - September for me.

I've got 2 Wallys. One in the main coach living room and one in the bedroom.

I was a Boy Scout so "Be Prepared" is ingrained in my thinking and when I manged things at work assuming too usually has some surprises.

I test everything before a trip and I usually start the process a month before the first trip of the season with a LOF and inspection at my chassis shop to address any mechanical issues.

There's enough to go wrong on a trip so I always have a short drive beforehand and use that to find an open parking lot to test the Dish. Mines roof top mounted so that makes it easier than a portable.

A thought that might help make sense of this. If you have a power outage, once power is restored, the satellite system has been rebooted and reconnects on its own. My HUNCH is that it's better to shut off the receiver while the dish can't see the bird than to leave the receiver struggling to hunt for a connection with the satellite while the dish is looking at the sky. If you test drive at home, confirm that things are working, then break down the dish and shut off the receiver, it should restore itself once you setup the dish onsite and generally aim it at the bird, then turn on the receiver.

Great to hear.

Not looking at my Dish app on my phone right now but under Tools there's alot of functions you can do yourself without calling Dish support.

You can change your local channels to the area you're in if you're subscribing to that service from the app too

With my Wallys, I would through the sequence of powering them off for a few seconds then on again before doing anything else.

Wallys are pretty reliable once the service is properly restored
