Dish Tailgater root mount

I would like to mount my tailgater permanently on the roof, but from what I'm reading here, it will be a hit or miss depending on where we are parked.

If you park under or close to trees, you will not like it unless you make it easily removable.

If you happen to be in a tall wooded area you may have issues.

I'd not recommended it.

I have a wingard carryout and I sometimes have difficulty on the ground.

But then again at the goshen rally the campers were close enough together I had to put it on my slide out to get reception.

You have many more options if its not mounted permanent.

I have a Tailgater and wouldn't recommend mounting it as it needs to be portable. When we do tailgate, no issues at all because there isn't an obstruction for miles. I just sit it on the roof and it works perfect the entire weekend. Camping..........is a different story. Sometimes it takes me moving it or sitting it on a table several times before I pick up HD channels. I use the Dish for my RV app on iphone to get an "idea" of where the sats are and usually have to move it once-three times to get all the channels. Sound advice not to mount it.

Be careful with the Tailgater and the roof or a slide. The rubber feet leave permanent marks. I put mine on the slide most of the time and it leaves 4 little foot prints. This year I will be putting something in between the slide roof and the Tailgater. To make matters worse, I have 4 round Tailgater foot prints on our hardwood floor where I left it set for a little over 2 weeks. Anything that can leave a stain on polyurethane is a concern for an RV roof.

You’re defeating the whole purpose of the Tailgater which is portability. Don’t forget you must have a clear view of the southern sky for the tailgater to pick up signals from the satellites. Will all the campsites you use offer this clear view? I’ve used up to 150 feet of cable to get my tailgater set up with that clear view.

I just purchased this trailer, and have a Tailgater as well. How did you run the cable and hook up the satellite box? Are you able to use the park connection? To the OP, sorry to hijack the thread

Experimented this weekend, and the tailgater works just fine when plugged in to the park jack, yea!
