Genesis 3.0
Hi Bob - Haven't been able to connect with you via PM, so I'm posting here. Is the Genesis 3.0 unit a Concertone? Finally figured out how to hook up the surround sound. Hubby went to push the "A" button for the speakers and it pushed all the way in, so our dealer is ordering us a new unit. Other than that, everything has worked fine. Not that I don't think you're a great guy, but I hope I don't have to contact you for any issues. Have a great day!!

Bob,
I just purchased a new TT and the ZX75 quit working during the first weekend out. How do I go about sending it in for replacment?
Thanks,

So after waiting over 8 weeks for the replacement radio. I received the genisis upgrade instead of the concertone. Got the thing installed today with a modification to the hole in the cabinet because it's larger. It worked once on the installer at the dealer. Then when he showed me the awesome job, (pun intended) everything quit working! Had to unplug it to stop playing! I think it's all in the circuit boards and when they heat up the solder starts to bleed together shorting out the system. Ugh! Now what?

What I think is the installer is trying to cover his butt.
Have you any idea how hot it would have to be to melt solder?
At this point send the unit back under warranty and find someone who knows how to install electrical equipment and pay them to install it.
Under no circumstances would I pay the current installer a dime without a fight.

Well the replacement radio was just a plug in and play unit as all the cone tions were the same. The fuse did not blow. And all buttons just quit working. We are at a loss. I saw a jvc model in a catalog that might fit. After the third radio I am losing my patience. Other than that my rockwood rocks!

First, I am sorry for your continued inconvenience.
I agree with Lou, as it would be substaintially IMPOSSIBLE for the solder to melt from the power within the unit.
But now you add an interesting twist, you say this was the third unit? Certainly that is a good indication that something else is happening here. Someone needs to:
1. Double check the wiring and connections (don't just keep plugging in new units)
2. Verify there is 12Volts at the power connector
3. Verify there is a good ground at the connector
4. Also, do not tighten the unit into the mounting hole with any torque, simply snug the screws. There could be twisting in the face plate causing buttons to stick.
What happens when you plug the unit back in after checking thise things?

My new trailer that came with a Genesis 2 does this, too. The buttons on the radio lock up. The remote sometimes works while the unit is locked. I usually have to pull the fuse to shut it off.
I'm going to have the dealer look at it in July between trips, but any other suggestions from Bob would be appreciated.

IF YOUR BUTTONS ARE STICKING - try loosening the mounting screws.
Remove the side panel trim pieces and loosen the screws.
Let me know if that helps.
Thanks

Hi Bob,
Thanks for the advice. I removed the trim panels last night and began loosening the wood screws that hold the unit in place. On mine, the installer used screws only on the two lower holes and nothing in the top holes.
Anyway, I loosened and would try to turn it on but no dice. Finally took the unit out just to see what is back there and to see if there was something loose (there wasn't). Still not working. The unit obviously has power but none of the buttons work, including the power on/off.

Triguy, if unit not working then have replaced by your selling dealer under warranty. My impression was you had a sticky button or two, not that the unit did not work...
