Dometic Freezer not working but the fridge is?!

Here's an odd one.

With Thanksgiving coming up, we needed a bit more room so we cranked up the RV fridge for some grocery spillover.

The ambient temp in the camper is about 40 degrees.

The fridge, after 24+ hours is 32 degrees, but the freezer is 40. I had several frozen things in there that are now, well, not frozen.

I powered the unit off and on again and will continue to monitor the temp.

The seals are fine, the camper is perfectly level and it's hooked up to shore power.

It just seems a bit odd that the freezer is the problem, not the opposite and not both.

Remember these gas absorption refrigerators whether on electricity or lp are dependent on the ammonia mixture in the boiler to do just that...boil. more effective on lp for sure, especially if the outside temp is 40 degrees. Just saying

What rig do you have and what frig make and model. If this is a standard camping model with gas and electric its hard to figure out what is going on because under normal operation the heat (cold) travels from the cold plate in the freezer area to the fins in the frig. keep the forum posted on what you find good luck

I have a similar situation. My Dometic fridge and freezer work better in warmer months than colder months. The outside part isn’t getting hot enough to make the fans come on to pull the heat out. I’ve installed a baffle, added insulation and added fans that always stay on. I wish I had a solution for us both. (At least misery loves company, I suppose.)

I got the reverse problem today. My home refrigerator/freezer stopped cooling just before Thanksgiving, of course! I’m now plugging in my rv frig to use. Whirlpool told me on Dec. 8th they could come, ridiculous! Nice to have back up available.
