Dometic Refrigerator Noisy Fan

Have had our Piper 355RE for a month now. Fridge fan is noisy like it may be bad. Tech said it's normal to make that noise. The wide isn't buying that answer because our last unit had a domestic and not once in 11 years could we ever hear it running.

This is common there are many threads on this problem and fixes. Do a search and you will find them. BTW my dealer said the same thing.

My frig fan was loud also. I took top outside vent out and looked in and fan stopped. Guess it burnt out or cooled down enough to turn off. Have not heard it since. 11 months now.
Update: Not cooling well in firg. Freezer is -2 degrees and frig is 45. Installed two more fans in top to pull air thru but did not help frig. Trying to find a locatio to mount the new fans lower to blow from bottom up.

We have a 2014 sandpiper 380bh5 and our frig is doing the same thing. It is so loud and does not cool anything like our old frig did. I'm really disappointed in this new frig. Where can we find info on what to do about it?

Disconnect the factory fan, buy 2 ball bearing computer fans and put them just above the burner facing up and connect them to the factory fan wiring.

Problem solved for around $20 or less.

I did the same and let the new fans run all the time. I left the factory fan in for back up and it never goes on with the others running. The refrigerator it colder now.

Mine was a little iffy when I hooked up last Friday for a weekend run. Thermometer would show frig around 45-49 and freezer was at 20-24. After towing for 1.5 hours, the frig was reading 30. Evidently the added airflow of traveling 50-60 mph aided in cooling. So I will be getting the two fans as suggested by oldcoot.

Go to NewEgg.com or Tigerdirect.com and search for case cooling fan.
There are lots! I donno about 2 for $20 with ball bearings but they have
several with sleeve bearings in that price range.
Good luck! (And watch out for that auto correct spell checker!)

Mounted 2 just above and to the left of the burner to cool the entire back. Works great.

You gotta wonder what the bean counters at Dometic are thinking!
Lots of un-happy campers out here due to the noisy fan.
IF we can fix it on the cheap- so can they but they obviously don't
care if it's noisy.

The recent post about the burner not designed to work above 5000 ft
is another one! Sheesh, we visit Colorado every few years. My current
fridge works fine at 11,000 feet and they can't make 'em like that
any more???

BTW I am going to copy this very helpful discussion to our FAQ as the
noisy fan question comes up pretty regularly.
Thanks for the VERY helpful photos and links!

Happy Camping!

I hate to keep sounding like a big dummy but doesn't the air flow from the new fans need to be going upward toward the fins on the back of the frig unit. My frig has two vents on the outside of the camper. The fan that's in there now is about the middle of the frig. The fins that I'm talking about is at the top vent. When I opened that vent up lots of heat came out. It's it the heat we are trying to get rid of.

You are correct, the fans should blow air from the bottom to the top across the entire back of the refrigerator.

The one oldcoot mentioned. Got 2 coming Friday. I like knowing some one else has proven success. Just got to rig the mount and figure out wiring when they get here.

I wired mine so they only come on when the fridge is on.
