Dometic refrigerator RM2354 issues
I need some help because I'm about ready to head to the Missouri River in MT to rip lips and I am having issues with my RM2354 refrigerator. I plugged into AC shore power to start the refrigerator cool down yesterday afternoon at the coldest temp setting (#5) and the outside temp was around 98 F. The unit took a long time for the freezer to start to cool and the fridge was over 80F. I turned on the air conditioner in the RV to help the unit and the fridge slowly was starting to cool.
I left the unit plugged in all night and the water in the ice cube tray froze and the temp in the fridge was registering around 30F. I then selected the setting to #3 and left to shop for the trip. When I returned about 4 hours later with the outside temp around 100F and no AC on in the a-frame I checked and the ice was still frozen solid but the fridge was about 70F.
My questions are, has anyone experienced difficulty having the fridge maintain cool temp when the outside temperatures are in the upper 90's- 100, even though the freezer is performing normally? Would I expect this to occur when outside temps are so high? Is there something I am missing with regard to operating the unit?
In addition, while the AC was cooling the a-frame and the fridge trying to cool the 120v GFI that the a-frame was plugged into tripped. Any ideas why?
With the temperatures forecasted to be near or over 100 I will need the refrigerator working. Any suggestions would be welcome on how to maintain the refrigerator temperature for food safety.
Cheers,
A-frame Tom
