Dometic RM 1350 not functioning..Ever

We took possession of a 2019 Forest River Forster about 11 months ago from Lazy Days of Minnesota. The RM 1350 did not work when we took possession and when I mean did not work I mean not on LP, not on Power and the temp never dropped below 60 degrees. The freezer felt like a sauna. We brought it back 4 times to get fixed under warranty. Dometic made them replace each of the internals 1 by 1 until they shipped a new unit. Lazy days needed to pull the master bed slide to install the new fridge, which we picked up Friday. They supposedly tested it, but I don’t buy it because I’m running into the same issue and the water was leaking to the freezer. No cooling on power after 48hrs. We are trying to run it on LP now and I checked the roof vent to ensure the fan is blowing warm air north. I’m at a complete loss of what to do other than loose my mind to Lazy Days service. We are heading out on 2 trips starting this week and then a huge month long trip in August. The temp in the Fridge has not dropped 1 degree in 2 days. I’m hearing the fans running. I’m beginning to wonder if there is some type of physical issue with the install location. Oh and we are trying to run it on LP on level pavement. I’d appreciate any suggestions anyone can offer. I’m seriously considering contacting Forest River directly.

My refer will cool down in less than 24 hours from when started, no matter what the ambient temp is. 32-34 is the typical running temp with it set on 4 or 5.

Check to make sure your doors are completely closing and that the center flap on the left door is closing properly. There have been issues with the flap not coming completely forward.

Don't take this wrong, but you did remove the blue door vent device that slides over the door latch.

What model Forester do you have, installation is different in every model.

I would contact Dometic directly regarding your issue, not FR.

Thanks for your reply Steve. Blue door vent? I’m not sure where that is. Can you elaborate? Lazy Days claims they tested the unit, but I don’t buy it.

We have a Forest River Forester 3041.

On propane do you have a flame going? On electric is the element hot? This is the VERY first thing to check. Don’t look any farther at ANYTHING. If you have a flame and it’s not getting cold that points to a couple different things. If you have no flame that’s something else. Start at the basics and report back.

It’s officially called a airing device. Pic attached. They are blue in color.

Make sure you register the fridge with Dometic. I am not a fan of extended warranties but I bought one for mine that extends it to 3 years. I think it was a little less than $300. As for the hold back clips for the doors, don't ever use them. They weaken the handles and the doors won't stay closed.

During the first year I had the water line replaced twice, a door because the light switch tore the door seal and the handles because the hold back device weakened them. Other than that, the fridge works great and we can load it with 2 weeks worth of food. Currently camping and its 34 degrees.

Hope you get the problem solved, that's crazy.

I’m trying the LP currently because I could not get it to run on power. I can hear the LP running and it’s hot around the aluminum covering. The bottom of that black cylinder tubing is warm and it cools as the piping moves up. I can hear the flame on when the fans stop running. And the LP indicator light is solid.

Ah. Ok, I can see how that would be helpful when it’s in storage. No, both doors are sealed up and clamped. It’s a 4 door unit with the freezer separate. Fridge temp is stuck on 60 degrees with the LP running for the past 8 hours. The freezer temp seems to be climbing. Ambient temp is 70 degrees with clouds today and I bet the temp in the freezer is closed to 95 degrees.

Ya, well the good thing is I have full coverage from Lazy Days. I’m just not confident they can fix the problem. I’m seriously considering hiring someone else to look at it. I’d be happy if I could get it down to 49 degrees at this point .

I can almost guarantee you have something blocking your stack. Take off your top cover and look down from the roof.

Ok, I’ll try that in the AM and report back. Thanks for the suggestions.

I checked it and it looked clear. I’m also feeling exhaust from the fan when it’s on

If you are wits end with your dealer, contact a mobile repair technician to come look at it.

Most can do warranty work. At the very least, you might have to pay for the repair and get reimbursement from the factory. Get prior approval first if the mobile tech doesn't handle that for you.

X2 what 5picker said. Sounds like it's time to get somebody else involved.

It could also be that a baffle got left out and all the air flow is bypassing the coils instead of flowing through them.

If they didn't find and fix that, replacing the fridge wouldn't help anything.

Be sure refrig is not overloaded. It will not work if you have too much food, drinks stored in it. It will not cool if too much food, etc. Hope you find help.

Unfortunately we have nothing in the device. It’s brand new.

I’m not totally following you. I don’t see any insulation impeding the back of the fridge. See the image I posted.

Thanks for all your suggestions. I spoke with the dealer and they insist that the ice maker in the freezer made ice before they finalized their QA. I’m skeptical because they water connection was loose an leaking when I turned the water on. I’ll see if I can find a mobile tech who can do repair work.
