Dometic RM2354 Fridge

Good day.
I recently purchased a 2021 Real Lite SS1604. Going through the owners manual I read the this fridge is more or less rated for Altitude 5500' or less before losing efficiency. I live at 5450' near Denver. Mountain camping anyone? I was wondering why Palomino RV sends this unit to dealers in Colorado and if I will indeed have non-cold food in this fridge at 9 or 10 K feet altitude.

Welcome to the forum its a great place to get your questions answered. Give the frig a try before you decide it won't work. If it doesn't cool as it should contact dometic and see if they have a high altitude orifice kit for that model. I suspect it is not cost effective to target a small area like Denver when mass producing rigs.

Hey SeaDog.
Thanks for the message. That makes sense about manufacturing process. This unit is brand new and would not cool from the start. The pilot light shield and the stack were starting to warm up but no cooling. I have been in touch with the dealer and will be looking at options.

being at a higher altitude and the flame putting less BTUs it may take longer then usual (at sea level) for the frig to cool down on propane.

If you're not familiar with these types of fridges, they take FOREVER to chill at first. If you power it up and come back a couple hours later, you might think it's broke. Power up and check again in 12-24 hours.

Thanks NJKris.
I do have some experience with camper fridge's. This is a new unit. When I first fired it up, the temp inside was 55 deg. (Using a refrigerator thermometer). After 16 hours the inside temp was 60 deg. Updates forthcoming.

Update: The RV Dealer, Dometic, and Forest River have determined that the fridge in question was/is defective from the beginning. A new unit is being shipped to the RV Dealer for replacement.

Glad they are doing that. May your wait not be as long as others.
