Dometic Warranty Replacement Question

Our Dometic 13.5 BTU AC quit just before we went to the Mayberry, NC Rally this year. (Great Rally BTW!!!! Thanks again Ally!!!!)

After we got back I finally got it to the dealer and after a couple weeks got it back. After getting in the driveway and plugging her up I noticed this unit cools down A LOT better than the old unit! We would have to open the doors to the front bedroom to get the temp down. Now it cools pretty good with the door closed.

Does anyone know what model unit they are replacing the defective units with? The new unit has a black cover whereas the old unit was white.

Is there any way other than climbing up on the roof to find out? I didn't think to ask the shop mgr before I left.

Hi Mele,

You can be thankful that they replaced your unit. My 3 year old unit quit cooling before this season. I called Dometic and was told that my manufacturing number was not being replaced. I told them that they need to take a long look at those numbers because a three year old CLOSED SYSTEM unit should not be low on freon.

I purchased a bullet valve, stop leak and new refrigerant and now my trailer is back to 72*.

Goodbye Dometic if I ever need to purchase a replacement unit.
