Have the Suburban Hot Water Tank in my Flagstaff 8538RKWS. What size socket do I need to remove the drain plug?

1-1/16" and a 3" or longer extension.

Agreed. And make sure you have the extension. I did it the first time with deep well sockets and it was nerve wracking to avoid scratching the clamper. No stress with the extension.

Done . Bought the one recommended, had the extension, worked! Winterizing complete. Thanks all!
