DVD plays only in black and white

We have the Drive EEDVO6 entertainment center and a Visio tv model# D43n-E1 and when I play a dvd the sound is great but video is in black and white. I have tried switching the connections without success. Any help would be appreciated. Not sure it matters but our camper is a 2017 Wildwood 27rkss. Thanks

I'm assuming you are using component cables. It's a bit of a pain to check but make sure the colors of the cable ends match the colors of the connections. If the cable is indeed connected properly the next step is to replace the cable.

Double check that your TV is set correctly to "Composite" or "Component" video in, to match the cables / signal coming from the DVD player. Note these are two DIFFERENT choices, "Comp" is usually abbreviation for "Composite" and "YPbPr" is often the glyph for "Component."

The "Black and white" Symptom is extremely typical of the wrong input mode being selected on the TV.

(Edit to correct COMP=Composite)

I had the same issue over last weekend. I had it set to the wrong input. Two inputs would show the DVD one would be in black and white and the other was color.

Went out to Camp Driveway and turned on the TV etc ...
We have a "Legend" but I'm sure others could be similar.

The "Composite" input jacks on the TV are called A/V on the screen menus;
The Y-Pb-Pr "Component" video input jacks, are called Component;
there are three HDMI input jacks, menus choices HDMI1, 2, 3 ... unrelated, but identified here to distinguish.

There is a minor ugly to it, the "composite" input jacks share the L-R Audio pair, and the V "Composite Video" jack (Yellow) with the "component" functionality.

The Y-Pb-Pr "Component" jacks SHARE the L-R audio, the (Green) Y cable shares the Yellow V jack (and hence it is labelled, "V/Y" and then there are the blue-red Pb-Pr pair. (some people call this "Peanut Butter and Jelly Jacks.")

I could quickly duplicate the "black and white" phenomenon by playing a "composite" source into the "V/Y" jack but selecting "Component" on the TV Input Menu as the video source. Select "A/V" TV Input Menu choice and all is well.

If your DVD Player / Head unit offers the Component Y-Pb-Pr outputs then you get a "better" picture using that, but of course requires the three video plugs as opposed to one. Again, SOME TV's might share the "Green" Y connector and actually use the "Yellow" V one.
