DVD will not play on new Forest River

We bought a Forest River Cedar Creek 2016 5th wheel and have never been able to get the DVD to play. The dealer here in town had not been able to get it to play either and even tried unit on a different TV. The DVD player was returned twice saying it is not the DVD player.

As we bought our rig at a location 1200 miles from here, our local dealer is less than willing to help very much and is VERY slow to respond and schedule maintenance.

Any ideas that we can try ourselves?

I can't help but others might.
You say it's a 2016 Forest River 5th wheel. It might be helpful to electronics experts here if you told them which line of Forest River - Wildcat, Sabre, Cardinal, Cedar Creek.

DVD issue

It is a 2016 Cedar Creek 5th Wheel and the DVD player is a Jensen, but I have forgotten the documentation at the RV so I am not sure of the exact model.

(thanks for comments)

Is the DVD player accepting the DVD?

Is the DVD running?

Are the video and sound cables hooked up to the player and TV correctly?

Is the TV set to the correct source by the remote? Try them all.

Good Luck, 17Racer

Had the same problem. Just lay the tv on a towel and hook it up correctly

Pull the unit out and run a new set of cables/hdmi to tv and see if it will play then. If it does, it's in your rig's cables. They may not be connected behind wall at tv. Have you tried different DVDs (I suspect you have, but just in case)?

This may sound dumb but in our Georgetown the DVD goes into the dash unit labor down. Completely different that anything we've ever used in the past

I had the same problem and it turned out to be that we weren't selecting the proper source.

If all else fails do what I did - save yourself a lot of heartache and buy a DVD player at Walmart and use it instead. I am on my second RV. The DVD player in the first one gave out after 2 years. I have never even tried the DVD player in the second one as I have a "smart" DVD player that I hook directly to the TV via HDMI and enjoy that way. I have found that RV sound systems/all in one units are outrageously expensive and cheaply made. For instance, the replacement cost for my Concertone Genesis 3.0 is around $600.00. I paid less than $500.00 for my Sony 5.1 entertainment system at my house that is a lot more powerful and has more features than the one in the RV.

DVD Not Working

Ran into the same issue. good suggestions above, with me it ended up being that the cables were falling out of the back of the player. Pulled it apart and reset (and rerouted them) the system worked correctly. Must have been the rough ride from the dealer.

Some asked if the dealer had it working. Is it possible you are using a BluRay when the unit only accepts DVDs? It's possible that the unit may not support BluRays.

My DVD player would not work. Dealer found one of the pins on the cables to the DVD was broken off to the DVD. Factory error. Replaced with new cable and all works now.

I'll support this solution ----- my DVD player will not play BluRay. Regular DVD's work fine.
