Everchill 12v wd-282fwdc-6 fridge time to cool & temp

Hi,

I am a new RV owner and new to the forums.

I've purchased a 2021 used palomino puma 16bhx. It has an everchill wd-282fwdc-6 12vdc model fridge. I am trying to find out how long it should take this fridge to cool, and what temperature it should reach.

I am testing the fridge. I've had it plugged in for about 5 hours today. It was about 75 degrees outside, and thus probably 5-10 degrees warmer inside the Rv. I powered the rv with 120v shore power and set the fridge to max cool (level 5/5). The freezer is set to medium (dial in the middle).

I have an outdoor digital thermometer in the fridge. the temperature is currently reading 50F. I would have expected it to be colder by now (40F) like a residential fridge. It seems like it's taking a long time to reach temperature. The compressor has been running non stop since I plugged it in hours ago.

The freezer feels much colder (I haven't tested the temp yet). I put my hand near the 2 little fan outlets in the back of the fridge, and it feels like they are both blowing air. Thought it was strange the compressor was running for 5 straight hours.

I'm just trying to determine if I have a problem with the fridge. My only frame of reference is residential fridges which I am sure are different. any advice is appreciated. I will let the fridge keep cooling and report back.

Mine is super cold, and fairly quickly. My fridge part stays about 40 and the freezer about 15, sometimes less.

This fridge is actually pretty close to a regular fridge, just with a 12v compressor.

I have a 120v version in my garage, it's almost identical.

Try adjusting that blender vane in the back of the freezer section to divert more cold to the fridge. I did have to balance that with the main temp control setting to get them balanced at 40/15.

Thanks Mac, I will definitely give that a look. I checked it again this morning and it was down to 39. later in the day when it was warmer outside, it read 44. So it seems like it's working. gonna let it run another day or two and keep checking it. Seems like all is well and 40 is the target temp.

If you want a quicker cool down and less compressor run time, you can put a gallon jug of ice in it when you turn it on.

We have the same Everchill and usually set the Temp to 3 when we are traveling and the blend knob in freezer is set as Mac1_131's is set (pointing towards about 1 o'clock. I have never changed the Blend Knob setting since set to 1 O'Clock. When home and not traveling we set temp to 2, our Everchill has never been shut off, I just set temp (#2) lower when home.

The 12v Compressor refrigerators cools pretty fast, unlike an absorption style that can take 24 hours to get to normal temperature.

The blend knob is what controls how much cold (freezer) air is directed to the refrig area. I suggest you set it to about 1 O'Clock and see if it that gets your refrig area temp down. I have the same duel digital thermometer at Mac1_131 in my Vibe and one in my Home Refrig, it works great and keeps track of Highs and Lows.
