I've done considerably more reading on the LG failures. Now I'm kinda thinking it may be waste heat related. Compressor noise, compressor lock, failed welds on the condenser...these issues could be related to high heat raising the pressures to high limits. Looking at the rear panel of the LG unit the intake & exhaust is in the same area. Seeing how some refers are snuggly fitted into a low clearance alcove it would be easy to see how intake and exhaust would loop. If in a more open setting it would be a much lesser possibility for looping. My home GE fridge pulls air from the rear and exhausts out the front. No problem there...
SPOCK123: I don't know how the WHIRLPOOL air is routed so heat buildup may be irrelevant to that brand.
