I guess you're talking about the refrigerator ?
They need to be pretty level to operate at their best.
If not working...I don't think in makes any difference.
Were you on gas or electric ?

Ammonia reefer will be damaged if operated over time out of level so as to restrict fluid flows in the condenser coils. Burner will over heat the fluid. Domestic simplifies level as comfortable to stand next to the box. My guess your problem is the electronic control board is defective. No further damage will occur unit off.

Pull the outside fridge grill off and follow 2 wires that go to the fridge chimney on the right. There is a reset button located between where the two wires attach to the switch on the chimney. It can be hidden in insulation. I was told that this switch cuts off the fridge to prevent damage when the trailer is not leveled properly. Hope I'm not sending you on a wild goose chase on this.

The reset you are referencing is a hi limit stack temperature reset. Has nothing to do with whether the refrigerator is level or not.
